I have been using CommSec's Pro Trader platform to study daily patterns & noted that almost without fail shorters attack upon open & especially if the SP has risen upon open - forcing the SP down about 80c before letting up & commencing the retrieval of their positions.
Given that since 1982 there has been a subdued 'Santa Rally' after the last Friday before Christmas on all but 2 occasions [albeit on low volumes mostly] leading up to resumption on Jan2 IMO suggests we might again expect a Santa Rally.
Add to this [based on published ASX data] that daily shorts have been ranging from about 25% to 40% of BHP's daily trades, without them keeping the lid on over the break perhaps BHP might break through the $32 curfew they have been enforcing.
