Yes, should be obvious, but if you have a portfolio of red, you're doing something wrong and should change whatever system you are trading with. the old Plan, Do (trade), check (measure), act (rectify).
Can't speak for others, but I've had to change how I work( my rules) at least 3 times - tracking weekly / monthly lets you change sooner, rather then later (when you have no capital left)
