Deep stuff, but appropriate for Easter.

I would describe myself as a dormant catholic. I believe in a God. I believe in good and evil.

When I was younger I criticised the church because I thought its views on sex, contraception and abortion were wrong. I thought I was wiser. This was my excuse not to go to mass on Sundays. I now concede I was wrong, the church was right and I was silly to think I was wiser.

I still have trouble believing in papal infalibility and getting over the fact that the bible is a set of selected texts which ignore the gnostic texts.

If I was to rejoin a church it might be the Salvation Army. I admire their pragmatic Christianity. If you find yourself in a gutter its probably them who will pick you up.

However I would have to give up red wine; on the other hand the chicks with the tamborines...
