I've asked many people to name a single great investor who has shaped their behaviours around any partition of their holding in the form of trading. Yet to hear of a single one. The impatient are fuel for the patient. Maybe it scratches a gambling itch... In any case it's best to shape behaviours around what the most successful do imo. No point trying to prove others wrong and go down the same, well-trodden path littered with the skeletons of others.
Exactly right, though the successful investors are always more than happy to encourage short term trading as it provides them liquidity for when they need to buy and eventually sell. A classic case of money moving from the impatient to the patient and the number one reason why retail underperforms on average.
Yeah but i bet there's more than a few people who just made 10 or 20 million quickly through timing the market and not letting FOMO keep them ifully n a stock through aa period of underperformance.
Especially those with not too much capital to begin with.
My mum and dad are still kicking so I couldn't blow their hard earned heh heh
No body can time the market though it's impossible. Of course in gambling there's always a minuscule probability you will win every time, but that is such a small number of people that you are better off just placing your bets at the casino.
It's impossible to predict the start of a downtrend and the end of one, so most who try to time the market end up selling when prices are going down and buying when they're going up.
Time in the market is always better than timing it, anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to sell you a day trading course or wants enough liquidity for when they eventually decide to dump their bags.
Yeah well my target is at least $10m in my hand within the next 5 years.
Started with $1200 5 years ago and im a fifth of the way there so it's quite doable.
Plus a 2 month $3k loan...
Certainly couldn't have done that by sitting on my hands.
