I've had discussions with both the ASX & ATO help lines on this topic.
Given that KAR shares aren't serialised, i.e. there's no tracking system to link bought & sold shares. You can't easily apply FIFO, especially if you've made multiple buy/sells.
Therefore, you're free to choose which buy & sell packets to base your CGT calculations on.
Of course, as nambo1 points out, you'll need to keep substantiating records.
