Did you explain to him that the Coalition plan was to let the Carbon Tax run it's course until the end of the financial year, not stop it immediately and really they only promised to introduce the repeal legislation as soon as possible after election? Perhaps that policy detail was lost in the "Axe the Tax" slogan presentation.
