    QT is all part of the theatre.

    The questions are almost never without notice, both sides have their questions and answers already prepared.

    Both major parties are just throwing wheat to the chooks.

    The major parties are quite close to each other - the differences are quite cosmetic but it's enough to get everyone fighting and arguing with each other.

    Which is exactly what they want. Anyone who votes has to fall one way or the other, you're forced to with the preferential system that applies in the lower house where government is formed.

    That also plays into their hands.

    That's why what we see, and what we get, are often different. The duopoly has it stitched up.
