    Fastbuck,

They start with a small choke as a safety precaution and as a starting point. IMO, the flow of gas (and oil) were very good for the size of the choke - how much can you squeeze through a 2.34mm hole starting 7,000ft below ground???!?!!.

The next step is to allow time to pass and confirm the continued flow of O & G. Once confirmed, the choke will be increased, allowing more O & G to pass through, and then that is tested.

This process is just normal practice - the issue is that the D/Ters were banking on some sort of bonanza announcement without any idea of the procedure.

Assuming the flow rates are good with the bigger choke diameter we are going to see two things: 1. exponentially higher flow rates, and 2. some red faced D/Ters caught with their blouses down. Then again, it could be a dud chamber, and which would mean the D/Ters get to laugh and point again, but it's who is in front at the end of the game that counts IMO.

    Stick it out!
    Cheers,
    Split
