this comment means they needed to get some cash to start drilling the retained acreage or forfeit it due to lease commitments. They need to "use it or lose it" so to speak.
You can't just sit on it forever.

They've already lost a few 1000s acres according to my research...as they use to talk very rcently about 48,000 net acres, now its about 41,000.
