Hi TJ,
I'm assuming u mean why will 3g/4g/next tech (Tele) be used instead of Wifi/router?
There are many reasons for this:

1) Range, wifi range is short compared to Tele.
2) Roaming, you cant switch from router to router on the go with security easily (tele can be used world wide).
3) Wifi spec currently has limited bandwith depending on number or routers and channels.
4) Its easier to troublshoot a single tele tower, than hundreds of wifi ap's to cover the same area
5) Tele infrastructure will be cheaper and already exists
