Speaking from experience, the biggest danger being a distributor is when a supplier is taken over by one of its own competitors. That competitor may have its own supply channels and could mean disaster for a distributor with only a few suppliers. DDR has a large, diversified distributor base and the ones with the largest influence on DDR's business are probably unlikely to be taken over due to their size.
