it doesn't 'fight for survival' ----------- it's not alive and it doesn't have a brain or think
think of it more like a machine - which changes by accident as it's copied
so - it doesn't 'target' anyone at all ---------- it just has more affect on some people some of the time
the next variant might affect a totally different mob to last time - next time - for some odd reason - it might hit perhaps one sex more than another - or young versus old
just hope like hell that one day - rabies doesn't accidently get the copy to fly
