The issue for the open pit was it never had a JORC compliant reserve - a competent person did not believe there was sufficient information to sign off on it.
That in itself is all you need to know about why the pit failed. And that Darren Holden was the one to push the project forward, with the support of the board.
Bringing in 'expert advice' was never going to fix things. The gold wasnt there to be mined. Either insufficient data, unreliable data, or unsupported interpretation of the data or a combination of all three. Who signed off on the resource? Darren Holden. If anything you should be talking to the JORC ethics committee.
The issue is, resource companies always rely on shareholder ignorance. This should have been a huge red flag for any investor, the problem was people were 'dazzled' by grade.
