6U is realistically because they needed to get something into orbit - with a new launch provider - and 6U is sort of standard and they might be able to piggy back on another launch..
8U satellites are unlikely to fly any time in next 2 years - by the time they
- raise money to build 6U
- build 6U
- launch 6U
- commission and start selling bandwidth
- then think about raising money for 8U
. If new more advanced components aren't available by then I'd be surprised - the whole point of nano was launch batches with updated components as they became available.
8U CDR was horribly expensive for off the shelf components- and now unlikely to be used.
