My honest take on the current communication strategy: It feels like the Board, or at the very least, Vianna himself, treats the ASX and Aussie retail shareholders with quiet disdain.
After they got a wrap over the knuckles for perceived “ramping,” Vianna (who even said publicly to “blame him”) seems to have taken it personally. Since then, it’s like he’s gone to the opposite extreme: “Fine then! We won’t release anything unless we absolutely have to!” That attitude is petty, unprofessional, and ultimately harmful to the company (I didnt get to see the AGM, so I'm still not sure of the reasons given for the lack of disclosure).
They’ve shown they’re happy to post updates on X and LinkedIn, so clearly NDAs aren’t always the issue (though I’m sure NDAs apply in some cases eg U.S. military). Withholding that same information from the ASX is a deliberate choice, not a legal limitation. It leaves retail investors, many of whom backed Brainchip early, having to connect the dots through social media and forums like HotCopper and TSE. While I personally enjoy researching, that responsibility shouldn’t fall on us. The company should be eager to share updates, research papers, and technical or commercial developments, unless an NDA genuinely prevents them.
I'm not saying every small tidbit needs an ASX announcement - but when new products actually using Akida are launched, that absolutely warrants ASX disclosure! Take Onsor, Bascom-Hunter, Chelpis-Merle, ARQUIMEA and AI Labs as examples - all are using Akida and had news posted to the company’s website and socials, but nothing released to the ASX. Why?
Then gaslighting the public about the US redomicile - "we never said that!" - well, what can I say? Theres a lack of transparency and basic honesty which does not help confidence (personally, im not against a US listing at this stage - I need more info - but dont lie to me). "Disclosure obligations” were cited as a reason for redomiciling, yet they post on socials, not the ASX. If it’s public, it’s not under NDA.
We have a great product that will hopefully be strong enough to succeed on its own merits, despite the current boards' misgivings (my gripes are with Vianna and Dawe).
Whether ASX announcements would actually move the needle or not is irrelevant. The company should be communicating everything it can and let the market decide.
