After the AGM I asked Simon the following:

Given that the 2 northern Chinguetti wells were drilled in the wrong place and the dismal exploration results of the last couple of years do you have confidence in the competence levels of Woodsides geologists?

I told him that I knew that most of the Woodside geos that had done the initial work on Mauritainia had already departed Woodside for greener pastures.

Simon stated that in the current environment it is difficult to come by rigs, rig workers and good geologists. He stated that the Hardman geologists do not get involved with Woodside's geos concerning Mauritainia. He said that Hardman pay Woodside good money to do that.

I got the impression that he was not happy with the current crop of Woodside geologists and felt frustrated that they had only limited experience and had not been involved with Mauritainia from the outset.

Inexperienced and incompetent geologists may well have resulted in the improper placement of several of the Chinguetti wells and the lack of any significant exploration success in Mauritainia in recent times. If this is the case then it needs to be discussed.

Simon took off for a cup of tea before I could extract more detail from him.

I wonder if someone is prepared to bring this subject up with Simon at the roadshows.
