Yes, data privacy it critical. BUD claim to be operating under the European GDPR, if they are then consumer do not have a lot to worry about. The only area that would need clarity on this is whether BUD/LIFx are adhering to the GDPR rules in the rest of the world or only in Europe. They have never really been clear about this. I am not sure about a swing away, I am convinced they will be selling for $5 in the next couple of years and there will either only be a couple of big players in the market as there is for traditional lightbulbs. LIFx maybe one of then, I doubt it, but you never know. The best thing they can do is put the For Sale sign out and start talks with Phillips, GE, etc IMO
