The price war I don't think is as big of a concern as you think it is.

You can do this comparison with almost any product that has a similar or even same feature set. An iphone / Galaxy doesn't have to match the price of some of the huawei models, Ford/Holden doesn't have to match Great Wall. Philips/LiFX doesn't have to match [insert cheap brand here]

LiFX is hitting the marketing hard and its there early that's a huge help.

Will the price decrease over time - yes, will the price instantly drop because a cheaper brand comes out no.

Now if Philips lower it's price that's when lifx would need to lower not if a new brand comes in.
