    didnt you say a few days ago that the ships actually arrived 18-20th jan?? so in essence it is already just a day selected to celebrate

    if people are thinking Australia was invaded, never colonised, then every possoble date is offensive since it has to do woth white mans institutions, whether it be federation, the day aus govt could rule themselves, the day indigenous got the vote etc. these are all dates commemorating parts of the "invaders" society, so how exactly will that make people happy. If lydia thorpe and the "blak sovereignty" folk think everything colonial is bad, then no day will be appropriate (gor them)

    im getting sock of this nonsense every year, its all complaint and no solution from the angry "change the date" whiners
