In the minds of the indigenous sovreignty folk, Jan 1 still symbolises a bunch of individual oppressive communities imposing their rights over the natives they dislodged and misttreated. They just decided to do it all together, not as 6 independent provinces.
BTW thats not what I belive, but these are the people you are dealing with. they will never be happy celebrating anything that has come from "the oppressors"
