Just because someone has a Nobel prize it does not mean their opinion on non-related topics has special significance. The best example of this is Linus Pauling. The only person ever awarded two unshared Nobel prizes. One for chemistry, molecular orbital theory if I remember correctly, and the peace prize. Pauling went on to champion orthomolecular medicine, particularly vitamin C as a cure for the common cold. He did this well into his 90's. Total BS and now recognized as unsubstantiated quackery.
