if christ is not god then we are all in deep trouble and there is no salvation.

however there are many verses that indicate that jesus equated himself as divine alongside god the father.

just one comes to mind and that is a comment made by thomas when he put his finger in christ wounds -

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

if thomas was wrong in that declaration then surely jesus would have pulled him up and corrected him. if jesus is god then the statement is correct and jesus is part of trhe godhead

if jesus is not god then the statement is incorrect and jesus is a fraud and you have wasted your time reading all of those books

peter and john both called him god as well

and doesnt immanuel mean god with us?
