Thanks J, interesting thesis. While I firmly believe the number of EV's will increase dramatically over the next 10 years or so, I don't believe it will be at the rates MS estimates. Infastructure, such as charging stations, and technical knowledge i.e mechanics required for servicing and repairs, would not be able to keep pace with such an dramatic increase over a short period of time IMO.
Currently all EV manufacturers will be utilizing permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) in EV's in the near future. Even Tesla is switching over with the model 3. If efficient commercial alternatives are the way of the futures you say, car manufacturers better get a move on developing them and stop using PMSM.
