The best advice I could give you on this topic would be to request a clarification from the ATO in writing or put your trust in a paid CPA.
With all due respect to HC posters & they are very switched on, I don't recollect anyone confirming that they were a CPA or the like.(Correct me please if you are a CPA)
So do what you will, but factual paid advice is usually the best.
My opinion is that trading this stock is fraught with danger anyway as big news is only ever just around the corner.
The question is how far.
