I agree Chuck. This appears to have more to do with Political & Business brinksmanship within Russian circles(ie. an attempt to stymy The MMK t/o) than for any other reason.
Anyway you look at it, if logic was to dictate the outcome, the deal should go through. But we are talking about Russia here.
MMK seem serious about rescuing this deal. Just read John Helmer's article and look at the extremely influential individual they have engaged to run their appeal (read, lobby the Kremlin). And I think we can be sure FMS are serious also.
Any can still happen but I think the deal will succeed.
