Would have been cheaper to be polite and pay the price the Middle East wanted for their oil instead of the blow out costs of the invasion with oil now approaching $100 per barrel anyway. Many angles as to how this has all come about including, putting an oil man in charge as President and this is what you get curtailing to corporations in all forms including oil interests in the Middle East ahead of Democratic principles at home in the US of A.
Americas dollar costs it sends to Israel in aid even though it is asking for it now in Euros http://austin.indymedia.org/newswire/display/36450/index.php and over and above this security aid is its their need for oil and the Middle Eastern countries who do not like selling it to Israel all the while depending on highly expensive oil from Russia. The setting up of US bases over there and running the Haifa pipeline to the above mentioned http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,,940054,00.html
One thing for sure is that if they want the Iraq problem solved they have to take Israel completely out of any equation of influence, only focused on setting up regional cooperation between the Middle Eastern countries to seek a way forward to stabilize the situation in Iraq and the Middle East if not for the sake of the energy the west currently needs but before Bush and his cronies take a flame to Iran or Syria or both.
