IMO This is a lesson also for micro exploration companies, certainly in PNG.
To pluck a plum like Mt. Kare, a company will need to have very deep pockets and to be prepared to spread plenty of largesse around.
I contend that the PNG elite and native stakeholders have both directed this result.
I'll bet they have another much larger suitor waiting in the wings which already has received the nudge and wink.
