G'day Sarco,
"why is it assumed that someone that died will rest in peace?
simply because it sounds nice, the alternatives pose uncertainty, and we have adopted the habit of believing, and not questioning, lies."
Strange that you should raise that subject just now, mate.
We have just dealt with the sudden illness, death & funeral of my father-in-law.
He was suffering & expressed a yearning to be re-united with his wife who passed away earlier this year.He had received the last rites and appeared at peace in the knowledge that death was to come soon. He was comatose for the last 11 hours prior to death and not responding to stimuli. All the deaths I have witnessed had associated blood, gore, chokings, etc, and were not easy. I expected him to die peacefully.
When his time came, he suddenly awoke & tried to raise himself, clutcing at that handle over his bed, then he grabbed my wife's arm with surprising strength and tried to raise himself, all the while looking around with a startled, terrified(?) look. After being reassured, he lay back and passed away.
I wonder what he saw that agitated him? I keep thinking back to that.Strange....
