timeto you are correct. But with these there is no "ops market" as such. If you want to trade them just do so as you would normal shares. Buying, selling and holding as you will.
Also, a third option in addition to the 2 you mentioned is to sell a portion of your ops near the expiry date to fund the conversion of the remainder to shares. In the case of MPO many option holders took this (no pun intended) option.
