for all those psychology students out there, would be interested to hear your interpretation of the statement on dividends made by SSM last week.

"While not yet declared, the Board anticipates maintaining the interim dividend at the same amount as last year. The Company will report its half year results and declare its dividend on 27 February 2009."

I'm of the opinion that a dividend is a certainty judging by the tone of the statement, but how large is still the unknown equation.

There is no doubt SSM is on plenty of peoples radars, but there are some still sceptical until the dividend is formally set in stone. I'm still of the belief if we get a 3-3.5c dividend we will be looking at a shareprice at least 35c by the ex-dividend date.
