BQT Solutions’ Encrypted miPASS Mifare Smart Card
Technology chosen for another RAAF Base Security Upgrade
John Genner, Managing Director of BQT Solutions Limited announced:
BQT has been awarded a contract to supply and deliver a “Secure Site Access Solution” for another Royal Australian
Air Force Base in Australia. As a major part of the Governments commitment to upgrade security, particularly of our
Defence Force’s sites and assets, the Mifare technology has once again been the chosen solution for Door/Building
access to these areas of vulnerability.
Unlike conventional “Swipe Cards” like Magstripe & Proximity which have no security and are prone to attack by copy
or manipulation, the BQT miPASS Mifare Smart Cards, based on Philips Electronics' open ISO14443A-compliant
Mifare technology - the industry standard for contactless smart card-driven transaction systems contains an intelligent
computer chip made up of sectors (memory banks) which stores the site access and ID details.
The BQT miPASS Mifare Smart Card is protected by high level encryption keys which only BQT miPASS Access
Readers with the corresponding Encryption keys can unlock and exchange information. The sectors allow a path for
the Government to introduce biometric technologies like Fingerprint and Iris in the future through a secure channel
along with other future applications specific to that Department in Defence.
This project once again reinforces BQT’s position in the marketplace as being the high security solutions provider for
major Defence projects.
