However it seems the issue of the likelihood of Nato permanently based in Ukraine is diminishing. So Russia might have won that concession all the while forcing the cost of their fossil fuel income higher ... win, win but possibly only short term as Western countries reliant on Russian gas must be drawing up their plans for alternative energy supplies right about now - I read that France has 40 nuclear power stations in the planning stage - great counter Russian export potential.

Can Russia actually afford a real war these days?
