Not forgetting that RAC themselves are also in the market at the moment to (effectively) accrue a large holding via the buy back. If the shares bought back weren't cancelled, 4 million shares would put them firmly in the top 10 holders.
Unless things take a significant turn for the worse however, I expect they will have trouble buying anywhere near that number of shares on market within the allocated budget, and it will make it that much more difficult and expensive for anyone else seeking to do so.
