If BP acquires the asset (RC220) - A deal can be structured which would include an upfront payment to RAC , future milestone payments and royalties on sales. Then RAC could distribute dividends to shareholders. In this scenario as mentioned earlier it doesn't provide an exit strategy for DR T as he would need to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of shares and RAC would essentially be a royalty collecting shell company as it has no other assets or products in the pipeline. This strategy makes no sense for anyone, unless DR T or Race Oncology want to continue to operate and pursue new products
If BP acquires RAC. Shareholders will likely be offered a premium to the share price. There would be no ongoing royalties as there would be no RAC to pay royalties to and there would be no RAC shareholders. Though we could be offered shares in the acquiring company.
In any possible scenario shareholders will not directly receive ongoing royalty payments for any amount of years. To my knowledge. Do your own research.
