Doxorubicin is a generic drug. As a rule generic drugs sell for a little above the cost of production since pharmaceutical company can make the drug and sell it. This is why doxorubicin costs ~US$100 a dose.
RC220 is not a generic drug and is protected by patent(s). The only company that can sell it for the next 20 odd years is Race. We can charge what the market will bear - based on the Triangle Report this is around US$20,000 a dose. Seems like a license to print money except we all have to pay for a whole lot of clinical trials to be able to sell RC220 and of course there is no guarantee that we will every get permission to sell RC220.
