My reading of the data is that the clients of 23 out of the 30 brokers listed are nett buying and only 7 nett selling.

Of those nett selling their total net sales was 1.413 million from 12 odd million volume.

Weighted against that we have directors converting options (the expiry of which were many months into the future), and another director announcing today that she's buying on market.

The options conversations are interesting. I don't dabble in options too often, but when I do I put of converting until about a week before expiry. The cash is better in my account than the companies account (from my perspective) so why give up the benefit of holding the cash to another party.

Assuming the holder of the options is acting rationally, and the early conversion is done for rational reasons, then it is reasonably safe to assume their is a benefit to that person through early conversation, the most obvious inference being a future tax benefit.

I think your question is sound, but on balance the information available would suggest more 'positives' in the available data about the behaviour of large holders than 'negatives'. Just my view.
