It's been very hard for me to respond to this due to my own experience.

A skin cancer diagnosis (an SCC) coincidentally followed my initial investment in RAC last year. Treated now and caught quite early but it was very, very confronting when I received the diagnosis. Months of procedures & surgery & recovery. It wasn't at the stage for me to need chemo. I'll have followup scans and visits with a surgical oncologist for at least the next 5 years. This has partly driven my interest in oncology and hence my level of research, trying to understand more about it. I also lost my mother and a friend to cancer. My friend had a terrible experience with chemo. For my mother the diagnosis was too late for any treatment.

One very clear motive for me is to see Bisantrene available and treating patients ASAP. So sad that such an effective drug had been forgotten due to misguided corporate priorities so many years ago.

The interesting thing from the COH study is that Bisantrene also has a low dose mechanism of action at very low toxicity (my understanding is that this essentially means Bisantrene might be useful for very sick patients, patients not well enough to tolerate normal chemo treatments). All the historic treatment was at high dose.

So it can work at high dose as a cancer killer but it also looks like it works very effectively at a low dose as a cancer inhibitor (preclinical data for the low dose mechanism of action - the COH study).
