For me it comes down to having enough growth stocks in my portfolio where I am confident in the management to deliver in a tough market. Asset is secondary in a tough market. A tough market is a test of good management.
Obviously you need to weed out the lifestyle companies. They are easier to spot in the mining industry, not so easy in Biotech (but I have posted previously on what to look for).
