Oncoviruses have in the past not worked well when delivered via IV. The immune system plays a large role in this - after all its job is preventing virus replicating in the body. The other major difficulty is physically getting the virus to the tumour. Tumours evolve strategies and systems that keep immune cells out and these strategies also keep out virus particles. There is so much promise in this area, but also so much disappointment in the clinic.
