@LongTony why is it a logical fallacy? BP will pay a premium over the value of the company and the average acquisition premium can be calculated from historical deals.
If the share price is $1 you won't get $1000 per share. You may say just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it can happen in the future.. using your logic no person that has flapped their arms has taken of flying before either, but doesn't mean the next person won't fly away.
