There is no non-commissioned research in Australia for companies outside the ASX200. Your choice as a company is to pay for research coverage or provide investors with zero coverage. Treat these reports skeptically (like you should treat all third party research), but they can be a great way to quickly get an insight into a company and start your own research. Having said this while MST is paid to provide coverage of Race, Chris writes these reports on his own and has his own financial model - I certainly don't agree with his assumptions and pricing.

On a personal note I much prefer these openly paid reports than the supposedly independent reports put out by brokers trying to get the mandate for the next capital raise.
