Had a meeting delayed so I thought I should provide an answer to this question as it comes up often. The reason that we only know about the cure of the 2 girls from France is bisantrene was only ever used in a small number of children - under 30. To be cured of leukemia back in the 1980s you needed a near perfect bone marrow donor match and only a handful of the kids treated with bisantrene could be matched.
Nobody at Race was able to study the adults treated back in the 1980s for AML as they were old people at the time and are all dead even if they were cured of their leukemia. If you were 70 back in 1984 (average age of AML patients) you would be 110 if alive today.
