    In answer to your question, depends what you are talking about, the ore concentration (WA) or the REO separation of the REO concentrate (Malaysia). In regards to the first, thay have stated they have pilot plant tested this considerably, read through the announcements and you will find it. In regards to the second, which is the REO separation LAMP processing, not so sure.

    In fairness however regards the competition, ALK are only going to the concentrate stage, they will not be doing REO separation, so they have not tested this stage any more than LYC.

    As for ARU, they have only recently announced they intend on proceeding to the REO stage, and as such started developing separation methods to do this (see the ARU announcement late last year; 13 Sep 2010). And that announcement was not full separation, only lights REO from heavies. To say ARU has had a process for full separation for a number of years, would be a considerable overstatement!

    I guess we will find out if/when the various companies build their plants.
