Hopkins identified two paradigm shifts during the course of the interview;
1. identification of target not by type of cancer e.g. breast cancer but by its genotype - the genotype being targeted is found in over 50% of cancers.
2. target is not an effector or cause of the cancer but a key driver, one which doesn't evolve but remains constant in a 'sea of change' thereby making it an ideal target.
The discovery of an efficient delivery system could well be described as a third paradigm shift.
