The proposed Trans Kalahari railway is a 1,500 kilometre railway line running from the Mmamabula coal field in Botswana and the Waterberg coal field in South Africa to a port in Namibia.
The rail will traverse southern Namibia and a new port for coal exports from South Africa and Botswana might be constructed just south of Lüderitz.
