you do realise there's no approval, or even final investment decision, for mining? it's just an exploration tunnel for now, and the authorisations explicitly forbid processing of the material excavated for that tunnel.

Definitely not "almost begun" mining the deeps. This will certainly be dependent on successful deployment of the new (recently funded) water treatment infrastructure. Given the failures of the last water treatment plant experiment, I'd be waiting 12 mths to see how the new direction pans out ...
