'The Weekly Times' (Victorian publication) has an article on Wednesday 28 October quoting a Serpentine (near Bendigo, Vic.) grower suggesting 'wheat, barely and oats are looking really good - and canola is still loking like it can get there too' as despite a dry winter, there was sufficient subsoil moisture to help the crops along, and since then in September and October the property had received consistent rain.

The grower commented that oats didn't want any more rain.

Victoria's harvest looks like being very good to exceptional, perhaps the antithesis of the smaller Queensland area sown to grains.
