This is a brief cut from 'The Land' (NSW) posted on its website on 26 October 2020 in relation to continuing delays to containers being unloaded in Sydney due to previous CFMMEU industrial action, with some TEUs instead being taken off ships in Melbourne (as the ships bypassed Port Botany) and then having to be railed to Sydney.

The positive effect on GNC with its big network of high capacity silos at railway sidings would be very small but it highlights an unexpected problem with installation of onfarm, non-GNC storage for the expected large harvest:

Silos stalled

NSW-based silo and grain auger importer Ashley Webster at Geronimo Farm Equipment has farmers "crying out" for silos his company ordered from manufacturers months ago, supposedly to arrive before the big harvest.

"We've got silos we planned to be erecting five weeks ago, but in some cases only part of a two- or three-container consignment has arrived," he said.

"We're still waiting for hinges or bolts before we can actually start work.

"I know how badly this gear is needed right now, but we've got no control over when stuff's actually going to arrive."
