whilst I agree TSLA stock is overpriced, Tesla is much more than just a car company nowadays unlike VW
so simply comparing car sales numbers is not correct.
It's an energy company, and see themselves as transitioning the world to sustainable energy through solar panels and rooftop tiles
and different types of batteries providing integrated renewable energy solutions for both homes and businesses.
or that's what they say anyway.
for instance the giant battery built in South Australia in 2017 is a Tesla battery and provides essential support to their electricity grid.
Car companies alone have usually not been great investments.
