Trees, your comment is all a bit cryptic for me, so i'm not sure where you are coming from how to respond. But nonetheless I don't think that it's a stretch to imply that a campaign to defend Julian Assange, is a also defending free speech which I think needs defending anyway.
If you want to make a comment relating to Assange for or against well just make it, for or against, as clear as you can, with justifications, reasons, logic, one way or the other would even be better. . Its all good
Here's a few comments from supporters from around the world
"Obviously gaining Julian Assange's freedom and immunity from prosecution, subsequent imprisonment and horrific treatment should be a top priority for everyone with any sense of conscience , and hardly only on the left!"
"Assange is an heroic human being who has exposed the mass murder drug running, human trafficing, torture, arms sales, poverty and exploitation that underlies the capitalist and nation state system."
"Julian (Burnside) is an exceptional person.
A lawyer with a conscience."
"Well said, it is good to see a lawyer with principles other than servicing their hip pocket. It is a shame there are not more high profile people speaking out in defense of Julian Assange.'
Assange was under attack because he “threatens the major governments. They want to keep people ignorant. He exposed how the US government tampers with elections all over the world and interferes in other countries.
“You hear very little about what’s happening to Assange from the mainstream media. They want us to forget about what he did and stop us from doing something similar. He’s a journalist and he’s telling the truth. What is the mainstream press saying?"
“I heard that the Ecuadorian government might be negotiating with the US about how to deal with Assange. He is in danger right now. I am worried that the Ecuadorian government is sacrificing Assange for their own interests."
The above message was displayed above the stage of musician Roger Waters’ “Us + Them 2018” concert in Berlin, Germany on June 2.He emailed the World Socialist Web Site last month to convey his support for international action to defend Julian Assange.
